CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 2

 

A CHARTER ORDINANCE RELATING TO SPRING PRIMARY ELECTIONS IN THE VILLAGE OF HAZEL GREEN, GRANT AND LAFAYETTE COUNTIES, WISCONSIN

THE VILLAGE BOARD OF THE VILLAGE OF HAZEL GREEN, GRANT AND LAFAYETTE COUNTIES, WISCONSIN, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:   Section 1.01(3) of the Municipal Code of the Village of Hazel Green shall be and hereby is created to read as follows:

 

“1.01   ELECTED OFFICIALS

(3)       SPRING PRIMARY ELECTION.  Whenever the number of candidates who file nomination papers for any Village office exceeds twice the number to be elected to the office, a primary election to nominate candidates for the office shall be held.”

SECTION 2:   This is a charter ordinance and shall take effect sixty (60) days after its passage and publication unless within sixty (60) days after such publication a referendum petition as provided for in Wis. Stat. sec. 66.0101(5) shall be filed.  In the event of the filing of such a petition as provided for in Wis. Stat. sec. 66.0101(5), this ordinance shall not take effect until it is submitted to a referendum of the electors and approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon, such petition and the proceedings for its submission to be governed by Section 9.20(2) to (6), Wisconsin Statutes.
